Business Psychic — How to profit by knowing
what
your competition is going to do
before they do it
by Bob Serling
It seems like every week you see another story in the media of how a business that once seemed so successful is now on the brink of going under. When asked why this is happening, the explanation most CEOs or business owners give is usually some variation of, "Our sales just seemed to keep dropping no matter what we did".
The sad fact is, this is true. But an even more important fact is: This didn't have to happen!
Because the real question should be, Why did their sales keep dropping?
Almost always, if you scratch beneath the surface, the explanation is simple. Some competitor came along and offered their customers more benefits or added value. And they stole those customers away without a whimper from the company that is now rapidly sinking.
What can you do to combat this and keep your competitors from repositioning you right out of business? The best way is to beat them to the punch! And in this article, I'm going to show you a simple, deadly accurate way to predict what your competitors are going to do before they do it. It's called "Business Psychic" and it will give you the ability to cut your competitors off at the pass and gain additional market share before they know what's hit them.
How to Know what Your Competition
is Going to Do — Before They Do It
My "Business Psychic" process for accurately predicting what your competitors are going to do is deceptively simple. There are just three steps to the process and anyone can use it with very little effort. However, the results this process returns are extraordinary. When you use it, one of two things will happen:
- You will determine what your competitors are going to do before they do it
- You will identify opportunities neither you nor your competitors would have thought about without this process — and be able to gain substantial market share
So let's take a look at the process in action. Here are the three steps that will make you a "Business Psychic":
- List all of your competitors' strengths
- Take a break
- Ask yourself the "Business Psychic" question:
"Based on what I now know about their strengths, what would chill my blood if a competitor did it before me?"
Step 1: List All of Your Competitors' Strengths
Grab a legal pad and sit down somewhere quiet where you won't be disturbed. You can do this exercise alone or you can include other members of your company. Make a list of all your competitors. Under each competitor, list the things they do best. Continue this process until you've completed the list for every competitor you have.
Next, consolidate the list. Remove any duplication of strengths that showed up under multiple competitors. Take all of the strengths that are left and create a single master list.
Step 2: Take a Break
Take some time to do something that will take your mind off the information you just gathered. Your brain needs time to process the stimulus you've just produced and turn it into concrete solutions.
Do something unrelated to this process. Go to lunch. Take in a movie. Go for a walk. Play with the dog. Do whatever you enjoy doing that will distract you from thinking about the information you've just uncovered.
Step 3: Ask Yourself the "Business Psychic" Question
Go through each item on your list and ask yourself or your team the following question:
Based on this competitor's strength, what could they do that would chill our blood and leave us scrambling to catch up with them?
You'll be shocked by the results. You'll discover your own vulnerabilities plus areas of opportunity that you never even dreamed existed. But don't forget, you'll discover your vulnerabilities before your competitors do and you'll be able to take positive action before they do.
You'll also discover a number of valuable opportunities you never would have known existed without this process. You can use these opportunities to laugh all the way to the bank — and your competitors will never know what hit them!
